one glove

Its like its waving as the world goes by. When you find a lone glove on the sidewalk its understood that the thing to do is to stick it on a nearby fence. That way the glove owner can back track and hopefully find it with ease. On my daily work walk, I see a lot of articles of clothing on the sidewalk; socks, underwear, t shirts. I think its because they fall out of laundry baskets on people's way to the laundromat. Funny how the only thing that ever gets put on the fence, however, are the gloves. Its like its universally accepted: socks stay on the sidewalk, gloves go on the fence.

At least you'll know if the six-fingered man is walking your beat.

I have a friend who split Mass. (and has nasty things to say about the way we [he used to] drive) to be a boho in Kennebunkport. He did a photo show in Portland called 'Lost and Photographed' which was all, you guessed, gloves. Big bucks for those photos! Don't know why people lose their gloves more often than their thongs -- I bet Barstool Sports does.
